Dear

I would like to voice my opposition to ELDC’s plans to allow a large supermarket to be built on the Cattle Market site. This would be disastrous for the unique small shops which rely on trade within the town, because the size of store that could be accommodated on the site would encourage shoppers to get everything under one roof.  They would also be reluctant to travel all the way down Aswell Street to do any top-up shopping.

Louth is already going to get a new supermarket when the Somerfield store changes hands, and there may be a Sainsbury as well. We do not need yet more supermarket space on top of that, and by encouraging it, ELDC is playing Russian roulette with everything that makes the town different, attractive and special.

Please let me know how you plan to further the democratic views of your constituents in this matter.

Yours sincerely,
