    Group of Groups

    April 15th 2009

The Louth Area Committee meeting on April 15th agreed to act on Neil Sharpley’s ideas to  establish a ‘group of groups’ which would act as a community focus for Louth. It was agreed that Neil would form this group, based on the Huntingdon and Yorkshire Forward blueprints, and come back to the next meeting with an unincorporated model with a representative of a statutory body, a local group, a community group and business on the steering group. Initially that steering group will comprise Biff Vernon of Transition Towns, Louise Niekirk of Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service, Nick Louth of KLS and Neil of the FSB.

This is a good result because it means that the Town Plan which incorporates many ideas of KLS will be dovetailed into the Local Development Framework and the ‘group of groups’ will be able to see that as many ideas as possible are implemented. One of the best parts of this is that Lincolnshire Enterprise is helping ELDC fund a town manager who will on various issues report to this new body. Early initiatives will include funds to smarten up and refurbish the markets.
