Links with campaign groups
Keep Louth Special is in the process of forging links with groups around the country who are campaigning against the threat to market towns from the major supermarkets. Once such group is in Holmfirth – of ‘Last of the summer wine’ fame – which was successful last October in blocking an application by Tesco for a large supermarket in the town centre. The idea is that campaign groups working together would be more effective in lobbying MPs to bring in legislation to curb the powers of the retail giants.
