The recent establishment of the Louth Town Partnership (LTP)
September 22nd 2010
The recent establishment of the Louth Town Partnership (LTP) has caused us to refine the role and strategy of Keep Louth Special. Several KLS supporters are on the LTP board, and the current feeling is that the Partnership deserves our support and energy. That is not to say, however, that the LTP can or will perform the same watchdog role that we have adopted over ELDC’s ongoing retail and commercial strategy.
So at September’s meeting KLS resolved to concentrate a large part of our efforts on investigating viable commercial ideas that would help to regenerate the cattle market, and thus lessen the possibility that ELDC might sell the site. We see this as a partnership which we hope will bear fruit not just for the town but for ELDC, and the farmers and auctioneers who derive their living there.
We will also continue to monitor and comment on relevant planning applications which may affect the retail viability of the town, which again is beyond the remit of the Partnership.
We have also resolved to more tightly focus KLS on regular attenders, rather than e-mail minutes to a wider group. However, we are mindful that many of those who wish us well are unable to attend meetings, so to keep our broad base of supporters in the loop, we have resolved to update the website more often so that they and others can stay informed. We also hope to stage a few special events, to which we’ll invite everyone on the general mailing list.
