    Sainsbury planning application

On December 17h 2009, ELDC Planning Committee turned down Sainsbury’s application to build a supermarket on the Kiln Lane site, next to the existing Co-operative supermarket.

Keep Louth Special member, Jennie Dunbar, spoke against the application at the meeting, and had done a large amount of work prior to that: attending Town Council meetings, writing letters, and generally lobbying and researching.

After the planning meeting, BBC Radio Lincs interviewed Alan Mumby, currently standing in for Nick Louth as the KLS spokesperson.

We welcome the Planning Committee’s decision, as we feel that the Sainsbury application would have been detrimental to the town in the long term, and we are pleased that KLS was able to play a small but significant role in informing the opinions of local councillors and the public.
