Keep Louth Special and the Louth Town Centre Partnership

    April 7th 2010

Louth’s Town Centre Manager, Mark Barnes, has been in post since October last year, and has already made quite an impact. An interim Town Centre Partnership (TCP) board, chaired by Canon Stephen Holdaway, has been set up, and meets every fortnight. On the board are the people who are heading the TCP groups, which include Business, Food, Music and the Arts, Transition Town, Children and Young People, Markets Group, Heritage and Health.

An early initiative has been a decision to work towards Louth being awarded Food Town status. There are also a number of town centre events planned in the coming months, all designed to engage Louth residents, attract visitors, and generally boost retail and commercial activity.

Keep Louth Special is keen to support the Town Centre Partnership, and several KLS members are already actively involved with it.

Mark Barnes will attend the April meeting (Wed April 14th, Boar’s Head, 6pm), to introduce himself to those members he hasn’t met through the TCP, and to answer any questions members may have about his role.

    ‘Priest checks out Tesco prices’

You might like to check out the story on the link below. It has its origin in a community that has a somewhat different cultural base to ours, but nevertheless the message of the supermarket price myth and the effect of large retailers on local communities is still the same. Come on, Canon Holdaway, get your shopping basket out!
